TRAVELING FOR COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT!

As you continue to work with your community partnerships, we want to remind all students that you are eligible for transportation reimbursement! 

Whether you took a LYFT/UBER, public transportation or drove your own vehicle, you can be reimbursed for that travel! Here is how you can access funds today!

1.     Complete the CEC reimbursement form: https://forms.gle/tFL3hpxRooXb5chc8

2.     If you are taking LYFT/UBER or public transportation please make sure to upload your receipts!

3.     If you drove your own vehicle you will need to complete a mileage form: https://bit.ly/3fRj8B7 . Make sure to include your maps

4.     WE DO NOT REIMBURSE FOR GAS!

L.A. Works creates and leads programming to address critical issues in Los Angeles by mobilizing targeted volunteer communities – family volunteers; corporate volunteers; general community members; and older adult volunteers.

  • Political Campaign Internship | Seeking 15-20 bright, energetic individuals to work for field and campaign operation. Internships are unpaid.  Requirements:
    • Commitment to work a minimum of 5 hours a week, maximum of 12 hours per week. 
    • Ideal candidates should be highly organized, reliable, prompt, detail-oriented and self-motivated. 
    • An interest in politics and political campaigns in highly desired. 
    • Active social media presence – representing our campaign online professionally and courteously. 
    • Willingness to learn voter databases and systems. 
    • Willingness to communicate directly with voters through phone and door to door contact, always keeping in mind you are a representative of the campaign. 
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills

Promise Scholars | Golf Tournament | Friday, April 7th, 2023

  • Volunteers | 6am-3:30pm) Promise Scholars is seeking volunteers for their fundraising Golf Tournament. These volunteers would help with registration, serve as game monitors, sell opportunity drawing tickets, and distribute snacks/water to the tournament participants

Pomona Economic Opportunity Center (start by March 3rd/ Bilingual)Encuentros Volunteers | 1-2 students | Every other Fridays from 11am- 1:30/2pm

  • Seeking volunteers to join the biweekly Encuentros lunches on campus! Volunteers will be needed for picking up and dropping of workers from the PEOC to Pitzer, check in participants, note take, and will help with some social media outreach. Contact Fanelly Millan for details.

CEC FACULTY AWARDS

Periclean Voter Engagement Humanities (PVEH) Fellowship

Deadline: Wednesday, February 1st, 2023 (but applications are accepted after deadline)

Project Pericles invites faculty to apply for the PVEH Fellowship- a $1,000 award supporting faculty to serve as leaders in voter and civic engagement. Mellon Periclean Faculty Leadership Award (2023-2025)

Fall 2023 Application Deadline: Monday, February 20th, 2023 (see website for additional application deadlines)

This is an excellent leadership and civic engagement opportunity—Mellon Periclean Faculty Leaders (PFLs) are a cadre of scholars designing and teaching humanities courses that incorporate community-initiated projects and voter education. Community Partners may request funds to be used towards projects, events, initiatives. Funds will be accessible through reimbursement, direct payments to vendors unless otherwise requested. Max request of $250.

Community Engagement Transportation Funds | Spring Deadline | Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023 (Students)

The CEC has transportation funds allocated for students doing community engagement-related travel either for a course or on their own. Students are allotted $200 each semester. Requests are accepted on a rolling basis and are due no later than two weeks after the end of each semester.

Community Engagement Clearance/Livescan/TB Funds | Spring Deadline | Tuesday, May 23rd, 2023 (Students)

The CEC has clearance funds allocated for students doing community engagement-related travel either for a course or on their own.  Requests are accepted on a rolling basis and are due no later than two weeks after the end of each semester.

Translation Funding Request | $1500 Available | (Students/Faculty/Community Partners)

If you are in need of translation or interpretation services, complete the form linked below. We have limited funds available for theses, so they will be distributed on a first come first serve basis.
