Awards and Fellowships

The CEC strives to provide students with the necessary tools in getting the most from their community-engagement journey. We provide community-based awards and fellowships for work done inside and out of the classroom.

The Pitzer College Community Engagement Center (CEC), in collaboration with the Intercollegiate Department of Asian American Studies (IDAAS) at the Claremont Colleges, supports the Margo Okazawa-Rey Summer Fellowship to encourage outstanding college students to implement community-based, creative, and/or research projects that integrate social justice, multi-racial solidarity, and feminism, with an emphasis in Asian American and Pacific Islander Studies.

The Newman Civic Fellowship is a year-long program that recognizes and supports student public problem solvers at Campus Compact member institutions. Fellows are nominated by their president or chancellor based on their potential for public leadership and their work with communities. Throughout the fellowship year, Campus Compact provides students with opportunities to nurture their assets and help them develop strategies for social change—creating a network of connected and engaged student leaders who can support one another in making positive change.

Application Deadline: March 15th, 2024
Award Status Notification: March 20th, 2024

This award is designed to support Pitzer students who will be completed a senior thesis or project during the 2024 spring semester. Funding is awarded to students who complete a senior thesis or project relating to a social responsibility or community engagement theme.

Fall Application Open: Monday, October 9th, 2023
Fall Application Deadline: Monday, November 13th, 2023
Award Status Notification: No later than December 4th, 2023
Spring Application Open: Monday, March 4th, 2024
Spring Application Deadline: Monday, April 8th, 2024
Award Status Notification: No later than April 22nd, 2024

The CEC would like to invite you to apply for the Kallick Community Service Award available each semester. This award is open to all students who have completed 100+ hours of community engagement work over the course of the current academic year. Don’t forget, you can combine your project hours!
