Office of the President

Interim President Jill A. Klein

Jill A. Klein P’15
serves as the interim president of Pitzer College. She is an accomplished academic leader, educator, adviser, board member, and corporate executive.

Interim President Klein joined the Pitzer College Board of Trustees in 2014 and is a proud Pitzer parent. Most recently, she has served as vice chair of the board and prior to that, she chaired the Academic Affairs Committee. In that role, she has been the board’s primary liaison with the College’s academic program and a staunch advocate for Pitzer faculty.

Prior to accepting the role as interim president, Klein was a full-time faculty member at American University in Washington DC. She served as executive in residence in the Department of Information Technology & Analytics at American’s Kogod School of Business. During more than 20 years at American University, Klein was appointed to various leadership positions, including dean at the School of Professional & Extended Studies, executive director for the Center for Teaching, Research & Learning, and assistant dean for digital initiatives at the Kogod School.

Prior to working in higher education, Klein’s 20-year corporate career spanned roles at JP Morgan, IBM, Riggs Bank, and The Advisory Board. She was applying financial information technology strategies long before the term “fintech” was mainstream.

Throughout her career, Klein has achieved many “firsts,” from digital transformation of organizations to advocacy for gender equity. She has been a tireless and effective advocate for the advancement of women in leadership. Klein has been recognized with numerous honors for her work in this area, including The International Alliance for Women’s 2020 World of Difference Award, the 2019 Women in Technology Leadership Award, and a seat on the Leaders Council for the Women’s Business Collaborative.

Jill A. Klein earned an AB from Cornell University and an MBA from American University.
