Mindful of Each Other:
Covid-19 & Spring Break Travel Considerations

The community’s hard work, sacrifices, and resilience has contributed to our ability to finally begin to see improvements for a hopeful fall return. We implore you to continue this momentum of remaining Mindful of Each Other in support of CDC guidance. Pitzer students currently not living in Los Angeles County and the local area, are strongly discouraged from traveling to Claremont and the surrounding area to visit during spring break. We implore all students to review local and national guidance around COVID-19 and to consider the impact of each of our individual choices on the greater good. Join us in remaining committed to our core value of Social Responsibility.

Reminders About Student Resources & Local, Off-Campus Guidance

Click the + sign to the right of the topics below to open the drop-down menu for more information.

  • COVID Testing Access

    COVID Testing Access
Both rapid antigen and PCR, is available through SHS. If a student has any COVID-like symptoms, has possibly been exposed to COVID, or would otherwise just like to have a COVID test for surveillance purposes, please do make an appointment with a SHS provider to discuss the appropriate testing for your individual situation.

For those students who have not moved back to the Claremont area, please know that SHS has partnered with TimelyMD to provide you with 24/7 on-demand access to a telehealth service, 7C.Health. 7C.Health is available for medical services to all students living domestically as well as mental health counseling to domestic and internationally based students. While this is a great service for students who don’t have access to SHS to utilize, I want to make sure even locally based students with SHS access realize that they can utilize 7C.Health anytime, if they prefer.

  • COVID-19 Support Group

COVID-19 Support Group (including during Spring Break)
MCAPS offers a drop-in weekly time for students in any location to get support around pandemic-related stress, including those students experiencing quarantine, health concerns for self/other, or any other concerns related to COVID-19. The group meets on Wednesdays at 12:00 noon Pacific time. Students who are interested in the group can email [email protected] for the link to join.

  • Additional Student Health, Wellbeing, Mental Health, Basic Needs, and COVID-19 Resources

Additional Student Health, Wellbeing, Mental Health, Basic Needs, and COVID-19 Resources
Connect to additional resources available here, including Covid-19 testing services off campus, Texas disaster relief, food support, and more. Our Spring 2021 Student Success Support Services and Resources site is also a great resource.

  • Student Health Services General Operations

    Students Living Locally Off Campus
Student Health Services (SHS) will continue to operate during the academic year, but with a modified schedule. Medical services through SHS can be received on an appointment basis ONLY. Walk-in appointments will NOT be allowed due to COVID-19 pandemic related restrictions. As a result, same day appointment availability will be expanded to accommodate most students in a timely manner. SHS can be contacted at 909-621-8222. SHS also advises you to review their website to get more detailed information about the services provided. For those students who wish to avoid in-person visits at SHS or require non-emergent medical care outside of SHS hours of operation, they still have the option of utilizing the contracted telemedicine service, Campus.Health. This NO-COST option is available to ALL students at The Claremont Colleges, regardless of whether they are living locally off-campus or in a different part of the country. Please note that all telemedicine services will be provided through Campus.Health, not SHS. Lastly, students may also choose to receive medical care through local community physicians, urgent cares or hospitals that are covered in their network, utilizing their private medical insurance or Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). Please contact your insurance company directly to verify that a provider is covered by your insurance plan prior to obtaining services.

    Students Living Outside of California
While SHS is unable to provide you services directly, The Claremont Colleges have contracted with a telemedicine service, Campus.Health. This NO-COST option is available to ALL students at The Claremont Colleges, regardless of whether they are living locally off campus or in a different part of the country. Students may also choose to receive medical care through local community physicians, urgent cares or hospitals that are covered in their network, utilizing their private medical insurance or Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP). Please contact your insurance company directly to verify that a provider is covered by your insurance plan prior to obtaining services.

    Students Living Internationally
For those students living internationally, unfortunately, neither SHS nor the contracted telemedicine service will be able to provide medical services to you at this time. You will most likely need to arrange for your own medical care locally where you reside. If you are an International student and would like to be waived out of SHIP, please email Katie Tewell.

  • Monsour Counseling and Psychological Services (MCAPS)

Monsour Counseling and Psychological Services (MCAPS)

Students need not be on campus to access services offered by the Monsour Counseling and Psychological Center (MCAPS). However, due to California mental health licensing laws, MCAPS can only offer ongoing teletherapy/telephone appointments (individual or group) to students living in California. MCAPS will serve out of state students via teletherapy/telephone for a onetime consultation, Rapid Access Initial Assessment, or a crisis session. Additionally, the center will work individually with out-of-state students to provide locally based referrals for ongoing care. To access services at MCAPS, please call 909-621-8202. For after-hours crisis services, the voicemail message will prompt you to press “1” to be connected to an on-call therapist. The Claremont Colleges are offering (at no cost to the student) an additional telehealth option for students seeking mental health counseling or medical care. To access, Pitzer students should visit the Campus.Health website or visit the Apple or Android stores to download the free TimelyMD app.  Click here for more information.

  • 7C Health

    7C Health

Access to free 7C Health 24/7/365 on-demand medical and mental telehealth visits for The Claremont Colleges students will continue to be available to you through Winter break. Reach a provider anytime, anywhere by visiting 7C Health.

  • Flu Shots

    Flu Shots

In light of the current pandemic, LA County Public Health has indicated that when colleges are allowed to reopen, proof of student influenza vaccination will be a requirement for students to return to campus.  Flu shots can be received with your provider, at your local pharmacy or here at Student Health Services. If you are currently in the local Claremont area, please know that Student Health Services is open and seeing patients Monday to Friday 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. You can schedule an appointment online through My Health Portal. Alternatively, you can call (909) 621-8222 to speak with a medical receptionist who will assist you. Be sure to make your appointment today and stay healthy! Click here for more information.

  • Aetna Teledoc/Televideo Services

    Aetna Teledoc/Televideo Services

Students enrolled in SHIP plan have access to Aetna’s Teledoc/Televideo services. Teledoc is a convenient option for a variety of medical services including general medical, behavioral health and dermatology care. You can even get a prescription send to your local pharmacy when medically necessary. Connect with a licensed doctor, dermatologist of therapist mobile app, web or phone. Failure to comply may result in disciplinary action including, but not limited to, immediate interim suspension, conduct probation, suspension, expulsion, and loss of College privileges.
