Eligibility
Students must be in good standing at Pitzer and have a minimum 2.75 GPA. Preference is given to juniors and first semester seniors but qualified sophomores are eligible if space is available. No previous language study is required.

Preparation
At least one Eastern European area studies course is required before departure. Some examples of other possible general preparation options include: Comparative Politics, Intercultural Communications, Introduction to International/ Intercultural Studies, Introduction to Sociocultural Anthropology.

Required Courses
Some courses in central European language and culture are taught in English. The Institute of English and American Studies offers all courses in English for international and Hungarian students alike. Courses are available in British cultural studies, U.S. culture and civilization, Australian and Canadian studies, English-language literatures and English linguistics (including applied linguistics and methodology). Tutorials in English in other fields may be possible. Visit the ISEP website shown above, select ‘Academics’ and follow the Hints for Researching Courses.

Intensive Language
Pitzer students are required to take an intensive Hungarian language course.

Credit Possible
Students must take 30 ECTS while abroad in order to earn four course credits at Pitzer. Depending on credits per class, students may need to take 4 to 6 classes. In addition, students will earn 0.5 Pitzer course credit for the Sakai course. See above under Required Courses.

Housing and Board Options
Students are housed in student residences and receive a stipend from ISEP to cover meals in the campus cafeteria. Homestays may be possible.
