Claremont, Calif. (June 7, 2012) — Erik Munzer ’13, outfielder for the Sagehen Baseball team, was named All-West Region third-team by the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA). Munzer was an All-Region selection for the second year in a row after batting .338—with two homers and 33 RBI—and stealing a team-high 12 bases. The Sagehen baseball team finished the season one game out of first place.

“I feel very honored to have been selected to the All-West Region team,” Munzer said. “In addition, I’m very proud of all my other teammates who have received various post-season awards.”

Munzer is a philosophy major and two-sport talent: he was also a co-captain and defender on the men’s soccer team. In May, Munzer won the men’s Athletic Excellence Award for two-sport athletes on Pitzer-Pomona teams and was an all-region selection for the men’s soccer team in the fall. He helped both teams to Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) championships his first year and has earned All-SCIAC honors in both, including first-team accolades in soccer.
