Scripps and Pitzer Colleges Break Ground on New Science Center

Scripps College and Pitzer College have officially broken ground on an ambitious new science center and building expansion project slated to open fall 2024. Shared between the two institutions, the multimillion-dollar initiative will create a state-of-the-art, 65,000-square-foot building next to the existing science structure featuring additional laboratories, classrooms, collaborative learning spaces, community courtyards and plazas, an art installation, and a greenhouse. The two buildings will be connected by a bridge to serve as a symbol of the bond between past and future scientific discovery.

Pitzer Alumnus and Inside-Out Graduate Freddy Cisneros ’21 Receives Executive Fellowship

Freddy Cisneros '21Pitzer College alumnus Freddy Cisneros ’21, who graduated last year with a degree in organizational studies, has been accepted to the Executive Fellowship Program, a 10-month public policy fellowship offered through Sacramento State University’s Capital Fellows Programs. Cisneros is one of eight members of an initial cohort of students from the California Rehabilitation Center (CRC) who have graduated from Pitzer through the Inside-Out Pathway-to-BA program.

Pitzer Parents’ Investment in Mental Health and Wellness Helps Students Thrive

When Larry Raskin P’23 and Ramesh Sinaee P’23 toured college campuses a few years ago with their son, Elliot Raskin ’23, they learned there was a growing mental health crisis among college students nationwide. In 2019, they helped establish Pitzer's Strive2Thrive health and wellness program with a gift of $75,000. In December 2021, they pledged an additional $100,000 to kickstart a fundraising campaign to better support the critical mental health needs of Pitzer students.

Women’s Golf Sagehens Claim First-Ever SCIAC Championships

Cecil the SagehenThe Pomona-Pitzer Women's Golf team claimed their first SCIAC Championship as well as their first SCIAC Individual Champion in Abby Euyang (PO’22) at the 2022 SCIAC Golf Championships at Tukwet Canyon. Pitzer’s Kiara Todd ’25 ended day one tied for twenty-second after she shot an 84 (+12) and came to shave one stroke off of her day-one score with an 83 in day two and came back for her best score of the tournament in day three with a 75 that featured three birdies and 12 pars to tie with Chang at sixteenth overall. This is Todd’s first season as a member of the Pomona-Pitzer Women's Golf team.
