Women’s Golf Sagehens Claim First-Ever SCIAC Championships

Claremont, Calif. (May 4, 2022)—The Pomona-Pitzer Women’s Golf team claimed their first SCIAC Championship as well as their first SCIAC Individual Champion in Abby Euyang (PO’22) at the 2022 SCIAC Golf Championships at Tukwet Canyon. The Sagehens finished in first place in the SCIAC after a three-event tournament that included results from the SCIAC I, SCIAC II, and SCIAC Championship Tournament.

The Sagehens were led by Euyang, as she earned the first SCIAC Individual Title in program history. Euyang finished with a 222 and was crowned as the women’s SCIAC Champion. Katelyn Vo (PO’24) finished just behind Euyang with a 223, which landed her in a tie for second as the SCIAC runner-up. Claire Whisenant (PO’24) also finished inside the top-10 for the Sagehens in a tie for seventh overall. Emily Chang (PO’25) birdied two holes in round one, coming at four and 18 to head into day two with a 79 (+7).

Pitzer’s Kiara Todd ’25 ended day one tied for twenty-second after she shot an 84 (+12) and came to shave one stroke off of her day-one score with an 83 in day two and came back for her best score of the tournament in day three with a 75 that featured three birdies and 12 pars to tie with Chang at sixteenth overall. This is Todd’s first season as a member of the Pomona-Pitzer Women’s Golf team.

The Sagehens will next compete in the NCAA Division III Championships, which are set for May 10–13 at Bay Oaks Golf Club in Houston, Texas.
