Movie Based on Best-Selling Book by Pitzer Alumnus Max Brooks ’94 Hits Box Office Highs

World War ZClaremont, Calif. (August 13, 2013)—Pitzer College alumnus and author of World War Z: An Oral History of Zombie War, Max Brooks ’94,  saw the movie based on his best-selling novel hit the half billion dollar mark this weekend, earning $502.6 million worldwide. World War Z also became the highest-grossing film for its star, Brad Pitt, surpassing the $497.3 million earned by Troy in 2004.

Max Brooks is the author of two New York Times best-sellers including The Zombie Survival Guide: Complete Protection from the Living Dead. From 2001 to 2003, he was a member of Saturday Night Live‘s Emmy award-winning writing team.

Brooks majored in history at Pitzer College.
