Sagehen Water Polo Players Selected for SCIAC Honors

Claremont, Calif. (December 5, 2011) — Pitzer College student-athletes on the Sagehen Men’s Water Polo team were tapped for postseason honors. Jason Cox ’13 was named first-team All- Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) while Stephen Vint ’15 was named the league’s Freshman of the Year.

Cox and Vint had key roles in leading the Sagehens to the SCIAC Championship this fall with a 9-1 league record and a 7-4 win over Claremont-Mudd-Scripps in the championship game. Cox was the team’s offensive leader, amassing a total of 65 goals over the season. Vint led the team in assists and was the third-leading scorer overall. Vint has also been named to the Western Water Polo Association’s All-Rookie Team.

Pitzer College joins with Pomona College to field 21 varsity teams – The Sagehens – that compete in Division III NCAA athletics and as members of the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).
