Pitzer College Alumnus John Lee Evans ’75 Elected to San Diego School Board Presidency

Claremont, Calif. (January 27, 2012) — Pitzer College alumnus John Lee Evans ’75 was unanimously elected president of the San Diego Unified School District Board of Education. Evans first joined the board in 2008.

Shortly after being elected board president, Evans announced a new health care initiative for school district employees and promised to work with unions to help the district overcome major financial challenges.

“We are looking to emphasize the ‘unified’ in our name,” Evans said, “No whining, no excuses, we’re all going to find solutions.”

Evans is a clinical psychologist and works children, adolescents and adults. Part of his practice included working with special needs children and consulting with San Diego school officials on the Individualized Educational Plan.

He majored in psychology at Pitzer College.
