Pitzer College Appoints Angel Perez New Vice President and Dean of Admission and Financial Aid

Claremont, Calif. (December 2, 2011)— Pitzer College has appointed Angel B. Perez as the new vice president and dean of admission and financial aid.

Perez has served as interim vice president since May 2011. Under his leadership, the Office of Admission achieved a 39 percent inquiry pool increase, the largest in Pitzer’s history, and a 37 percent spike in Early Decision applications, also the highest number in the College’s history. While serving in the interim position, Perez continued to publish articles on higher education. He was also interviewed by national and international media, including the Chronicle of Higher Education, Inside Higher Ed, CBS, Ifeng, Noodle Education and El Pregonero. In keeping with Pitzer’s core value of environmental sustainability, he converted the Office of Admission to a paperless operating system and led the redesign of Admission’s publications and webpage as well as the design and implementation of the federally mandated Net Price Calculator. In his first international trip as interim vice president, Perez traveled to Oprah Winfrey’s Leadership Academy in South Africa where he was invited to speak to students about choosing colleges with social justice missions, and in September he spent time in China working with young people interested in pursuing a liberal arts education in America.

Angel B. Perez joined Pitzer College in 2007 as the director of admission. He holds a BS from Skidmore College and MA from Columbia University. Perez currently serves as the council chair for College Board’s Western Regional Assembly and teaches in the College Counseling Certification Program at UCLA.
