Pitzer College Student-Athletes Honored

Claremont, Calif. (November 30, 2011) — Pitzer College student-athlete Stephen Vint ’15, from the Sagehen Men’s Water Polo team, was named to the Western Water Polo Association’s All-Rookie Team.

Vint was the third leading scorer on the Sagehen water polo team, helping the team to its Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC) Championship this fall. Vint is also the team leader in assists

Pitzer College student-athlete Erik Munzer ’13, a defender on the Sagehen Men’s Soccer team, was named first-team All-Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

Munzer served as a co-captain on the men’s soccer team as he led the Sagehens to a 10-8 regular season and a 9-5 mark in the SCIAC, good for a tie for third place. He anchored the defense from his center back position and his efforts helped the Sagehens record seven shutouts in their 14 SCIAC games.

Pitzer College student-athlete Ellen Yamasaki ’15, the outside hitter/setter on the Sagehen Women’s Volleyball team, was crowned Freshman of the Year by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC).

Yamasaki was also named to the All-SCIAC second team and received an honorable mention all-region selection from the American Volleyball Coaches Association.

Yamasaki lead the team in kills with 230, while finishing second in both digs (266) and assists (247), putting her in the rare 200-200-200 club in those three categories.
