Pitzer College Joint Science Department Awarded a Jean Boissevain Lectureship

Claremont, Calif. (November 8, 2010) — Pitzer College Joint Science Department (JSD) under the leadership of Dean David Hansen, was awarded a Jean Dreyfus Boissevain Lectureship for Undergraduate Institutions in the amount of $18,500 from the Camille and Henry Dreyfus Foundation.

This award will allow the Joint Science Department to bring to campus a leading researcher in the chemical sciences to give two lectures, a popular lecture and a more technical one, and to interact substantially with undergraduate students and faculty over the period of the visit. The award also provides stipends and support for two summer research students to work with JSD chemists in summer 2011.

Joint Science Department is a program of Claremont McKenna College, Pitzer College and Scripps College. It was one of only four institutions to receive this award in its inaugural year.
