Pitzer College Alumnus Wins Asia Pacific Leadership Program Fellowship

Claremont, Calif. (April 13, 2010) — Pitzer College congratulates Yuki Sugawara Lin ’08, winner of a 2010-11 Asia Pacific Leadership Program (APLP) Fellowship.

Lin, who majored in economics and minored in Chinese, won the Japan Exchange and Teaching Program Fellowship in 2008 and spent the last two years working in Japan.

He will attend the APLP East West Center in Honolulu, Hawaii this August and expects be complete the program in May 2011.

Lin hopes the APLP program will help solidify his goals of working in international diplomacy and foreign services.

“Pitzer and its dedicated professors have trained me to think that a job should never have to be just a job, but rather something you are really passionate about,” said Lin.

The Asia Pacific Leadership Program seeks outstanding individuals with proven leadership experience or high leadership potential from across the Asia Pacific region, North America and beyond. At least 20 countries are represented in each cohort. APLP participants will gain broad regional perspectives, become knowledgeable about the critical challenges facing the Asia Pacific region, and be trained to exercise leadership and promote cooperation.
