Pitzer College Associate Vice President Receives Grant

Claremont, Calif. (April 2, 2010) — Pitzer College Associate Vice President for College Advancement Joy Kliewer received a Consortium for Innovative Environment in Learning Grant for her project “Outdated or Underrated: Exploring Experimental Colleges and Universities in America.”

Kliewer, with collaborator Rabbi Patricia Karlin-Newmann, will teach a seminar entitled “Outdated or Underrated: Exploring Experimenting Colleges and Universities in America,” for Johnston Center and Pitzer College students in the fall of 2010.

The course will examine the status and impact of experimental colleges and universities on education and social transformation through case studies.

The Consortium for Innovative Environments in Learning is a growing network of distinguished, progressive higher education institutions working in partnership to advance innovations in student learning.
