Pitzer College Assistant Professor Wins First Place in Juried Exhibition

Claremont, Calif. (March 31, 2010) — Pitzer College Assistant Professor of Art Jessica McCoy received first place in the fourth annual international juried art exhibition Au Naturel: The Nude in the 21st Century for her painting Bathroom II.

McCoy’s painting is a composition in collage form that examines the progression of time through a compilation of moments.

“I think it is natural to approach a show of nudes with curiosity, an eagerness to investigate. This show has allowed me to examine the vulnerability of the figure through fragmentation and interruption. There are many exceptional artists who have work in the show and receiving first place is a great honor,” said McCoy.

The exhibition, juried by the late Laura Russo, consists of 61 works of art from over twenty artists. It will be on display at Clatsop Community College’s Art Center Gallery until April 8.
