Pitzer College Leads Country in Fulbright Fellowships Per Capita

Claremont, Calif. (November 06, 2008) – In 2008, Pitzer College has been awarded more Fulbright Fellowships per capita than any other college or university in the U.S.

Pitzer College students and alums were awarded 11.5 Fulbright Fellowships per capita in 2008. Other top liberal arts institutions in Fulbright awards per capita include Pomona College (10.3), Swarthmore College (8.1), Smith College (5.8), Williams College (5.1) and Kenyon College (4.8). Research universities on the list include Yale (4.9), Harvard (4.4), Northwestern (3.0), the University of Michigan at Ann Arbor (1.23) and UC Berkeley (1.0).

Pitzer College 2008 Fulbright Fellows will study or teach in Cyprus, Germany, Mexico, Morocco, Nepal, Romania, South Korea, Thailand and Turkey.

Pitzer’s success in the 2008 Fulbright competition follows strong showings throughout the decade—since 2002, Pitzer College has been awarded more Fulbright Fellowships per capita than any other college or university in the U.S.
