Diego Borgsdorf Fuenzalida ’24 and Jaspa Ureña ’24 Awarded Curatorial Apprenticeships for First-Generation and Students of Color

(April 18, 2023)—Pitzer College students Diego Borgsdorf Fuenzalida ’24 and Jaspa Ureña ’23 have received an award from the Pitzer College Art Galleries to complete in-depth curatorial apprenticeships. Available to first-generation and students of color, the Benjamin Godsill ’00 and Anna Burns Student Apprenticeship Award provides the chance to work with two of Los Angeles’ most dynamic non-profit arts organizations: Los Angeles Contemporary Exhibitions (LACE) in Hollywood and Fulcrum Arts in Pasadena.

Environmental Artist Lauren Bon Reimagines LA River for Pepper Distinguished Visiting Artist Lecture

Her talk will be held on Tuesday, December 6, in the College’s Benson Auditorium at 4:15 p.m. Located on Tongva land, Bending the River has been described by the Metabolic Studio as “an infrastructure artwork” and is evolving through conversation with artists, Native communities, activists, local community, and the many governmental agencies needed in order to realize this work.

Marcus Jackson ’22 combined premed classes with art and Asian American studies during his Pitzer journey. “I have this odd tendency to go into fields where I’m least represented." Jackson’s advice to current and future students is to never let anyone else steer your career as a student and beyond and to seek help when you need it.
