Carly Sullivan ’24 Named SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Year in Lacrosse

The Pomona-Pitzer lacrosse team has earned nine All-SCIAC honors including the selection of Carly Sullivan ’24 as SCIAC Defensive Athlete of the Year.

Sullivan led the conference’s best defense, which allowed just 4.2 goals per game for a SCIAC-best goal difference of 187. The Sagehens paced the league in caused turnovers with a whopping 14.8 per contest and ground balls at 27.8 while posting a clear success rate of 87 percent and receiving just 16 green cards and eight yellow cards.

The Sagehens also had five other First Team All-SCIAC selections, including Pitzer’s Sydney Landauer ’25. Landauer led the team with 63 points this season off an even 32 goals and 31 assists. She also tallied 21 groundballs with a .485 shot percentage.

The Sagehens additionally had three Second Team selections that included Pitzer’s Grace Warner ’24 and Ruby Loesch ’26.

Warner was another big offensive threat for the Sagehens this season after she tallied 42 points off 26 goals and 16 assists. Loesch rounded out the awards for the Sagehens as a goalkeeper. Loesch only let in an average of 5.03 goals per game this season to go along with a .506 save percentage with 83 saves.

The Pomona-Pitzer lacrosse team recently claimed the SCIAC Regular Season and SCIAC Tournament Championships, earning an automatic bid into the NCAA Division III Women’s Lacrosse Tournament.
