Claremont, Calif. — Dec. 4, 2023 — This fall the Sagehens women’s soccer team had breakthrough SCIAC victories with regular and tournament championships.

After a draw with Occidental at the end of October, the Sagehens ended the regular season unbeaten for the first time in program history with a 13-0-3 overall record and a 9-0-3 SCIAC mark. Because of Cal Lutheran’s draw against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, the Sagehens earned their fifth straight title as the co-champions with Cal Lutheran.

Then, in November, Pomona-Pitzer’s team claimed the 2023 SCIAC Tournament Championship with a 1-0 win over Cal Lutheran at Rolland Stadium. With the win, the Sagehens claimed their fourth straight SCIAC Tournament Championship and advanced into the NCAA Tournament with a 15-0-3 overall record.

The Sagehens were led by Pitzer’s Taylor Marshall ’26, who netted her first goal of the season in the biggest moment of her young Sagehen career with a deep free-kick as the only score in the game. Patricia DePalma PO’27 picked up the win in goal after she went the full 90 minutes for her seventh shutout of the season with four saves.
