All Students Currently Studying Abroad are Safe

November 18, 2016

Dear Pitzer College Community,

After the recent tragic events in Paris, Lebanon and Kenya, I want to confirm that all our students studying abroad in the European Union are accounted for and safe (we have no students in Kenya or the Lebanon this semester). We were obliged to delay issuance of this notice until all students had confirmed their well-being.

On Friday, we spoke with the three Pitzer students in Paris, and were able to confirm their safety and offer our support. Additionally, we are in communication with their families in the US. Our staff has reached out to our French exchange and French international students here on the Pitzer campus to provide any assistance they need during this difficult time.

We are monitoring the current state of affairs and staying in constant communication with our students and program partners around the world to ensure that they are receiving the support they need.

Our thoughts are with all those affected by these terrible tragedies in Paris, Beirut and Garissa University College in northeastern Kenya.

Best,

Michael Ballagh
