Claremont, Calif. (February 14, 2012) — Pitzer College alumna and NBCUniversal executive Bridget Baker ’82 will receive the Champion Award from the T. Howard Foundation. The T. Howard Foundation, which promotes diversity in the multimedia and entertainment industry, gives the award to recognize “outstanding leadership in the area of diversity.” The foundation’s 19th Annual Diversity Awards Dinner will be held in New York, NY on March 28.
Baker was named NBCUniversal’s first president of TV Networks Distribution in 2006. She oversees the North American distribution of the company’s many entertainment, news and information products, including networks such as MSNBC, CNBC, Bravo, E! and Oxygen. A cable industry pioneer, Baker helped found CNBC.
Baker is known for championing diversity in the workplace and for assembling one of the most diverse teams in the industry. As a director on several boards, Baker has supported groups whose mission is to create bold, self-empowered women through advocacy and leadership training. At NBCUniversal, Baker has also spearheaded numerous volunteer efforts, including the rebuilding of two AIDS hospice centers in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.
In 2010, Baker received the Pitzer College Distinguished Alumni Award and has served on the Pitzer board of trustees since 2003.
Baker majored in political studies at Pitzer College.
