Screening: Bunker, a Film by Jenny Perline

In collaboration with Faculty-In-Residence, Professor Andrea Scott, Pitzer College Art Galleries is pleased to present the West Coast debut of Bunker (2021), a film by Jenny Perlin. This is a rare opportunity to view Perlin’s newly released feature film outside of independent film festival circuits.

Meet with a Pitzer alumna who is the Improvement and Performance Specialist at Ericsson, one of the leading providers of Information and Communication Technology to service providers. She and her colleagues at Ericsson will discuss their career paths and their technology rotational program. 

This program is part of a series that provides a regular platform for Pitzer alumni and families as well as employers to discuss careers in a variety of fields.

Jacoby Ballard is a social justice educator and yoga teacher known for his playfulness, heart-opening, and commitment to change from the inside out. Jacoby has taught Queer and Trans Yoga, a space for queer folks to unfurl and cultivate resilience. Jacoby received Yoga Journal’s Game Changer Award in 2014 and Good Karma Award in 2016, and an award by Reclamation Ventures in 2021.

The Mike Brown Rebellion: A Conversation with Hip Hop Artists Rebel Diaz

As a part of the survey course Critical Global Studies 67: Resistance to Monoculture, hip hop artists Rebel Diaz will join in dialogue about grassroots politics and uprising. They will be sharing their experience in Ferguson, Missouri, during the anti-police uprising in response to the killing of Mike Brown, one of the catalysts for the #BlackLivesMatter movement, and show clips of their documentary, The Mike Brown Rebellion.

Screening: Wajib (“Duty”) and Conversation with Director Annemarie Jacir ’96

The Pitzer community is invited to a screening of Wajib (“Duty”), an award-winning 2018 film directed by Pitzer alum Annemarie Jacir ’96. Wajib was a New York Times Critic’s Pick and won numerous awards at international film festivals. The screening will be followed by a Q&A via Zoom with Jacir.

Doors open at 7:30 p.m. with light refreshments served in the atrium; screening begins at 8 p.m.

Financial Know-How: Credit

Learn about credit cards, interest rates, late fees, credit scores, and more. Led by a Pitzer alumna and Certified Financial Planner, this is the second in a series of financial wellness workshops sponsored by the FirstGen program, Financial Aid, and Career Services.

Study Abroad Information Session

Sadie Barnette: Legacy & Legend, a partnership between the Benton Museum of Art at Pomona College and Pitzer College Art Galleries, is the artist’s most ambitious exhibition to date. The Benton is exhibiting a major new body of work that expands upon themes the artist has explored in an earlier project, Dear 1968,… (2017), and Pitzer is showing an installation featuring Barnette’s signature reimagining of domestic spaces as futuristic, other-worldly locations of liberation and restoration.

Artist Jenny Perlin works in 16mm hand-drawn animated films, videos, installations, and drawings. Her projects draw on interdisciplinary interests in history, cultural studies, literature, and linguistics. Her films incorporate innovative techniques to investigate history as it relates to the present.
