Residence Halls Closing/Winter Break/Opening Information

Dear Pitzer Students,

As we approach the end of the semester, we want to remind you all about the following upcoming residential dates and process. Additionally, any students who may need financial support for transportation, or other necessary expenses, are encouraged to complete the Student Emergency Relief Grant application.

  • Winter Closing – The main campus residence halls close on Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021 at noon, full information is on our website.
    • Move Out Helpers: Any non-Claremont Colleges move out helpers will be permitted on campus during winter closing. They must complete the Healthy Pitzer screening form they day of their visit and wear a mask indoors during their visit.
  • Late Stay – Fall 2021 – An application process for those who may need to apply for a one-day late stay after winter closing. Email [email protected] to get access to this application process.
  • Winter [email protected] – Winter break housing is available for free at the Claremont Collegiate Apartments (CCA) for CCA residents who reside at CCA during both fall and spring semester, international students with travel restrictions or students with housing insecurity.     • Applications Due Monday, November 8
  • Early Arrival – Spring 2022 – Please review this website for information regarding permission for early arrivals. Typical early arrivals include student leaders, athletes, new students, etc. Email [email protected] to get access to this application process.
  • Spring Opening – The main campus residence halls open for ALL students on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at 9 a.m., full information is on our website
    • Students can return on either date, but are asked to move in according to the first letter of their last name in order to allow distancing at check-in.
      • Sunday, Jan 16 
        • L-Z Starts 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
        • A-K Starts 12 noon until 5 p.m.
      • Monday, Jan 17
        • A-K Starts 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.
        • L-Z Starts 12:00 PM until 5 p.m. 
    • All Pitzer students will be required to take a PCR COVID-19 test 3 days prior to move-in arrival and will be asked to produce these negative test results upon arrival on campus.
    • Students are allowed up to two move-in helpers. Move-in helpers must provide their vaccination record card OR a negative PCR COVID-19 test taken at least 72 hours upon arrival. 
    • Students and move-in helpers should also complete their Healthy Pitzer screening form the morning of move-in/prior to their arrival. We will ask to see the verification email on your phone at that time. 
    • Be sure to bring masks with you as masks will be required for ALL, indoors and outdoors, on move-in day.
