Bio: Shervin Malekzadeh is a Visiting Professor in Political Studies at Pitzer College where he is completing a book manuscript on post-revolutionary schooling in Iran. He has a second manuscript under review at Stanford University Press, a collection of dispatches from Iran titled Fire Beneath the Ash: The Green Movement and the Struggle for Democracy in Iran, 2009-2021. Prior to coming to Pitzer, he served as Visiting Professor of Comparative Politics at Colgate University, Williams, and Swarthmore. Shervin received his Ph.D. and M.A. in Government from Georgetown University and has an A.B. in International Relations from Stanford University. A former kindergarten and first grade teacher, as well as an accidental participant in the 2009 Green Movement, his commentaries on democracy and popular culture in Iran and the US have appeared in The New York Times, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, The Atlantic, Foreign Affairs, and on CNN, France 24 and NPR, among other places.
