Update on Remote Learning at the Claremont Colleges – January 21, 2022

Dear Pitzer Community,

Earlier today the President’s Council met to review how we are faring across the Claremont Colleges in bringing students, staff, and faculty back to campus during the current surge of Coronavirus cases. Taking into consideration the needs and concerns of each College, the President’s Council agreed that, as planned, Pitzer, Pomona, and Harvey Mudd will continue teaching all classes remotely for another week. Please see my January 6 Community Message for more information.

Meanwhile, Scripps and Claremont McKenna will resume in-person instruction next week for a limited number of classes that will be taught outside on their campuses.

Pitzer students enrolled in classes at Scripps and Claremont McKenna will be informed by course instructors if any of their classes will be taught in-person next week. Students who are not yet on campus or in isolation or quarantine should communicate directly with course instructors about their situation. Additional resources and support, including academic support services, are available through the Office of Student Affairs at Pitzer.

As a reminder, Pitzer and the other undergraduate Claremont Colleges plan to resume in-person classes beginning on January 31. Thank you for continuing to be Mindful of Each Other and prioritizing the health and safety of our community.

Provida Futuri,

Melvin L. Oliver

President
