Dear Pitzer Community,

I am pleased to inform you that the Pitzer Presidential Search Committee has agreed on three finalist candidates. Each has unique strengths that align with Pitzer’s core values and the professional qualifications and personal qualities we outlined in our Leadership Profile. The candidates enthusiastically accepted our invitation to come to Claremont to meet with many of you during the second week of October.

Each candidate will be on campus for a full day. We have made plans for them to meet with a broad cross-section of the Pitzer community, including all tenure-line faculty and contracted instructors who have been with the College at least five years; Staff Council; Student Senate; the leadership team from Advancement and Communications; Science Faculty Conveners; the Interim President and Vice Presidents; members of the Board of Trustees; and alumni/ae who live locally.

If you are in one of the above-named groups, you will receive an email from Melanie Lacy Sorenson asking you to complete a form acknowledging that the search process is confidential.  Once you complete this form, you will be able to view candidates’ application letters and curricula vitae on a secure website and will receive permission to attend the in-person meetings. Following the campus visits, you will be invited to provide feedback that will inform the final selection of our president by the Board of Trustees. In fairness to the candidates, we ask that only those who meet with all three of them complete the feedback forms.

We are at an exciting moment in the search process. On behalf of the Board and the Search Committee, thank you for your interest and support as we determine the best person to lead Pitzer into the future.

Sincerely,

Tom Brock ’83

Presidential Search Committee Chair
