Dear Pitzer Community,
I am writing to provide an update on the process for selecting a settled Vice President for Student Affairs/Dean of Students (VPSA/DOS) for the College. Jan Barker Alexander is currently serving as the Interim VPSA/DOS through the end of this academic year.
I have been working closely with Human Resources on the process for recruiting and hiring for this important position. Our goal is to appoint someone for the role who will begin this summer, ideally in July.
We are assembling a search committee with student, faculty, and staff representation, and an executive search firm, Korn Ferry, has been engaged to assist the College in a national search (open to both internal and external candidates) for our next leader for Student Affairs at Pitzer.
A detailed calendar of activities for the search has been developed, which includes the following key milestones:
- Feb. 1 – March 1: Form Search Committee, Conduct Listening Sessions, Finalize Position Profile
- March 1 – April 1: Post and Advertise Opportunity and Recruit Candidates for the Position
- April 1 – April 12: Screen Candidates and Conduct Initial Interviews
- April 25 – May 8: Conduct On-campus Interviews of Final Candidates
- July 2024: Settled VPSA/DOS Assumes Role
I am excited to recruit and hire an outstanding chief student affairs officer who will work collaboratively and effectively with our community, and our dedicated Student Affairs staff, to provide exceptional support for our students and leadership for the division and the College.
