This year, we are hosting a broader “Student Leadership Recognition Week” to honor the many ways students have contributed to Pitzer and their communities during our virtual academic year. #StopAsianHate: The Fight Against AAPI Racism and Violence

The pandemic, combined with anti-Asian political rhetoric, has created a new social epidemic – a dramatic rise in racism and violence again Asian American Pacific Islanders in the United States. In this talk, Cynthia Choi, co-executive director of Chinese for Affirmative Action, and Karthick Ramakrishnan, professor of public policy and political science at UC Riverside, will discuss strategies and efforts for countering AAPI hate and violence.

Join us for an exciting experience and discover Afro-Colombian vernacular culture with Kombilesa Mí, a group that seeks to preserve a forgotten language through Hip-Hop. Kombilesa Mí will offer a performance and then engage in a discussion to valorize their unique identity as the first free slave settlement of the Americas, and Palenquero, the traditional language of their village.

No matter your answer, Reunion Celebration 2021 is a great time to re-live many so-Pitzer moments while you reconnect with dear friends and favorite faculty. Podcast Series: The Careful Photograph

This spring, the programming for the Munroe Center for Social Inquiry is a podcast series. “The Careful Photograph” features contemporary photographers of color who are pushing the medium and posing important questions around race and identity. Each episode starts with a visual description of a single photograph by the artist, and then explores how the work in question works against expected tropes.
