The Research & Technology (RT) Pillar supports the research and technology needs of our community partners by leveraging the human and material resources of the college. This pillar seeks to support and create alternative methods to sharing community knowledge through databases, applications, programs, and other technological tools. On Campus Collaborations

Program Assistants working in Research & Technology partnered with students working in the Pitzer Student Garden on a Clean Air Day event.

Community Engagement

The Adelanto Water Justice Coalition (AWJC) partnership began when the CEC was contacted by Adelanto Councilmember Evans, seeking support in examining water quality in the city, as residents reported experience water with foul odor and discoloration. We partnered with Professors Ethan Van Arnem and Jason Tor teaching Integrated Biology and Chemistry, and Professor Katie Purvis Roberts teaching Advanced Chemistry to run initial tests. Following the first phase of testing, we partnered with the Robert Redford Conservancy (RRC), the Immigrant Coalition for Immigrant Justice (ICIJ), El Sol Neighborhood Educational Center, and Pitzer students to create a public report for resident testimonies, water history, test findings and community impacts.
