“This vision honors the values that have always defined Pitzer while embracing new ways of learning, leading, and creating change. It reminds us to reimagine what rigorous, justice-centered, sustainability-driven education can be in a rapidly evolving world.”

Strom C. Thacker

President, Pitzer College

4 Central Goals

The strategic vision is organized around 4 goals: catalyzing bold, fearless learning, expanding student access, community-building, and growing resources.

Pitzer College ignites change for a more just, sustainable, inclusive world by educating every student to think critically, act courageously, and engage compassionately.

This strategic vision was informed by extensive input from the Pitzer community and the vision's four goals are supported by the College's mission and core values

The Strategic Vision's Central Goals

1 - Catalyze bold ideas and fearless learning

Pitzer leads in rigorous, interdisciplinary, experiential, and community-engaged learning through innovative teaching, scholarship, and service to society, spearheading social justice education and the sustainability revolution, and preparing students to ethically engage evidence, technology, and intercultural perspectives as stewards of the greater good.

A Collaborative Vision

“This vision grew out of thoughtful collaboration among President Thacker, his senior leadership team, the trustees, and the wider Pitzer community. As trustees, we stand fully behind this shared roadmap, which strengthens Pitzer academically, operationally, and financially while remaining true to the values that make this community remarkable.”
