Funding Resources
Pitzer Test Prep Assistance Fund
About: In response to student requests and thanks to support from the Office of the President and the Office of the Treasurer, Pitzer Career Services is administering a fund to provide limited support to students preparing to take a graduate admissions exam.
Students may apply for funding to support the reimbursement of CBEST, CSET, DAT, GMAT, GRE, LSAT, MCAT, OAT, PCAT, or TOEFL test preparation. Live or online test prep courses, materials such as test prep books, and test prep software will be considered for funding. Because cost reduction waivers are available from the testing organizations, funding from Pitzer College is unavailable for test registration fees.
Eligibility: Students of junior and senior (class of 2025 and class of 2026) status enrolled at Pitzer College are eligible to apply. Students must have demonstrated financial need as verified by the Financial Aid Office to receive funding.
Requirements: To be considered, students must apply for funding prior to purchasing materials or registering for a test preparation course. Funding cannot be utilized for test preparation courses already in progress or materials purchased before funding approval from Career Services. After approval for funding, documentation (i.e., invoices, receipts, etc.) will be required for reimbursement. Pitzer’s Graduate Test Prep Assistance Funding is not guaranteed by the submission of an application, as the annual budget is limited.
Application Process: Students apply by submitting contact information, a resume, a budget, and the response to one essay question: “Explain why graduate school or professional school is important to your career plans.” Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout fall 2024 and spring 2025 until funding is depleted. Applications open starting Tuesday, October 8, 2024.
Funding Levels: Applications for reimbursement are considered for a minimum of $100.00 and a maximum of $1,000.00. Applications may be partially funded. The available budget for the 2024-2025 school year is $10,000.00. If approved for funding, receipts and invoices of test prep materials and courses must be submitted by April 15, 2025. If documentation is not submitted by that date, the funding offer will be rescinded.
