Vanderbilt Program for LGBTQ Health This internship is well suited for those pursuing careers in academic medicine, public health, community organizing, health professions, and other related fields. LGBTQ Health Intern’s will be divide their time between programmatic projects to support the Program for LGBTQ Health and working on a research project.

League Foundation The program is open to self-identified Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, or Transgender students graduating from high school who are United States Citizens attending an accredited college, university, or vocational school within the United States or Canada. A minimum GPA of 3.0, two personal essays, and two letters of recommendation from non-family members are required. Community involvement, activities, and leadership roles relating directly to the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender communities are given priority.

Messenger-Anderson Journalism Scholarship and Internship Program (NGLTF) The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force presents a $240,000 scholarship program for undergraduate students pursuing a degree in journalism or communications at an accredited four-year college or university. Fair coverage of LGBT issues insists upon the basic premise that all of us are created equally. But media coverage today often begins with the discriminatory notion that equality for LGBT people is somehow a matter for debate.

National Lesbian and Gay Journalists Association (NLGA) NLGJA provides several scholarships and awards for LGBT students interested in journalism. These include the $5,000 Leroy F. Aarons Scholarship, the $1,000 Bob Ross Student Scholarship from the NLGJA Northern California Chapter, and the $500 and $1,000 Excellence in Journalism Awards.

Point Foundation The Point Foundation is a national, publicly supported scholarship fund that provides financial support, mentoring and hope to meritorious undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate students who are marginalized because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. Awards amounts vary based on need, and are renewed annually until the completion of one’s degree as long as key expectations are met in the “Contract of Excellence” signed by each Scholar, which includes a requirement to maintain a 3.5 GPA.

Ronald P. Wilmot Scholarship The Ronald P. Wilmot Scholarship Fund of the Jewish Community Federation Endowment Fund provides up to three scholarships annually to children of gay and/or lesbian parent(s) toward undergraduate, postgraduate, or comparable degrees at accredited institutions of higher education.

Victory Institute An 8-10 week Congressional internship with a member of the LGBT Equality Caucus or an LGBTQ-friendly member of U.S. Congress to learn firsthand about the federal legislative process. An educational and leadership development program to learn about careers in policy-making as well as engaging with subject-matter experts across the District of Columbia across working sectors.

The Gay Asian Pacific Alliance Foundation Scholarship The purpose of the GAPA Foundation Scholarship is to celebrate and reward outstanding scholar activists who are making a positive impact on the API and LGBTQ communities.

Traub-Dicker Rainbow Scholarship The Traub-Dicker Rainbow Scholarship was established by Peggy Traub and Phyllis Dicker to encourage and support women-identified lesbians in their pursuit of higher education. This program provides one-year scholarships of $1,500 or $3,000 to those graduating high school or already enrolled in college in any year of study, including graduate school. Scholarships are paid directly to the recipient’s school and are applied toward tuition.

National Center for Transgender Equality (NCTE) Internships The National Center for Transgender Equality offers year-round unpaid internships for academic credit for undergraduate and graduate students in the areas of policy and communications, and also offers year-round internships for law students. Internships take place at the Washington, D.C. office. Internships have flexible start and end dates. While internships are typically unpaid during the school year, during the summer NCTE offers a stipend to assist with living expenses in DC. NCTE can also work with a student’s university to assure academic credit is received (if eligible for credit).

Maylon-Smith Scholarship Award Society for the Psychological Study of Lesbian, Gay, and Bisexual Issues, a division of the American Psychological Association. Up to $1,000 goes to assist each winning graduate student researching issues that affect the LGBT community.

Lesbian Caucus of the National Women’s Studies Association Provides $500 scholarships to lesbian students who are doing graduate level or Ph.D. dissertation research in lesbian studies.
