Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) The Summer Health Professions Education Program (SHPEP) is a free summer enrichment program focused on improving access to information and resources for college students interested in the health professions. SHPEP’s goal is to strengthen the academic proficiency and career development of students underrepresented in the health professions and prepare them for a successful application and matriculation to health professions schools.

Santa Fe Institute The program asks students to discard traditional disciplinary boundaries, and combine concepts and tools from the physical, natural, and social sciences. The program is designed to assist students in developing their own research questions and projects in close collaboration with the SFI faculty and postdoctoral fellows.

Stanford Summer Research Program (SSRP) – Amgen Scholars Program (Stanford Medicine Dean’s Office Funding) The SSRP-Amgen Scholars Program is a fully-funded research-intensive residential program that takes place on Stanford’s beautiful campus for a nine-week period. Participants are matched with a member of Stanford’s distinguished faculty and work in one of our state-of-the-art research facilities. Each participant works with both a faculty member and a lab mentor to craft a research project.

Texas Astronomy Undergraduate Research experience for Under-represented Students (TAURUS) at UT Austin The TAURUS program is a full-time, 9-week summer research experience for highly-motivated undergraduate students from underserved and traditionally marginalized groups. We prepare these excellent students to enter graduate school in top-rated astronomy programs or the STEM workforce by providing authentic research experiences, ongoing professional development, and community support beyond the conclusion of the summer program.

UC Irvine’s Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) UC Irvine’s Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program offers undergraduate and master’s diversity students an opportunity to work closely with faculty mentors on research projects and provides an intense course of graduate preparation workshops. SURF is designed for students who plan to pursue a Ph.D. or M.F.A. degree and enter academic careers, provides the tools needed to facilitate application, admission, and enrollment to graduate school.

UC San Diego Summer Training Academy for Research Success (STARS) program The University of California, San Diego Summer Training Academy for Research Success (STARS) program is an eight-week summer research academy for community college students, undergraduate students, recent college graduates, and masters students. Opened to all disciplines, STARS offers student participants a rigorous research opportunity with esteemed UC San Diego faculty, informative transfer and graduate school preparation workshops, and educational, cultural, and social activities in sunny San Diego.

Undergraduate Research Program (URP) at Cold Springs Harbor Labs All URP students undertake an original research project, mentored by one of CSHL’s outstanding research faculty. Students have access to the Lab’s state-of-the-art research facilities, including extensive resources for genomics and microscopy. At the end of the Program, students write a scientific manuscript about their summer work. Some of these become part of peer-reviewed scientific publications.

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP) The program at Illinois provides students with an experience that will help strengthen their knowledge, skills, and understanding of graduate school. Since 1986, Summer Research Opportunities Program (SROP) at Illinois has brought talented undergraduate students from across the US and its territories, such as Puerto Rico, to our campus as an introduction to graduate study, research, and the admission process.

University of Michigan Summer Research Opportunity Program (SROP) SROP at U-M strives to increase the number of diverse students with unique experiences by supporting their preparation for graduate studies. Through intensive mentorship, active learning, and enrichment activities, SROP fosters a community of scholars who increase social and cultural capital and networking while mastering research skills and knowledge that advances their preparation as candidates for successful graduate study at U-M and success in future careers, increasing representation in professional fields.

University of Pennsylvania – The University of Pennsylvania conducted a study in 2015, and identified a list of employers interested in hiring DACA students. This list is broken up into employer industries, and also includes those with recruitment programs targeting DACA students.

University of Utah Bioscience Undergraduate Summer Research Program The purpose of SPUR is to provide undergraduate students with an intensive 10-week research experience under the mentorship of a University of Utah faculty member.

New York University Summer Undergraduate Research Program (SURP) The primary goals of this program are to introduce our research and training programs to non-NYU students, and to diversify the scientific workforce in the field of biology.
