Semester and summer students are billed through Pitzer’s Office of Student Accounts on Pitzer's regular timelines. For details on billing schedules and payment options, please contact the Office of Student Accounts.
Study Abroad Withdrawal Policy
If you need to withdraw, defer, or switch to a different study abroad program, you must immediately notify the Office of Study Abroad and International Programs in writing using the Request to Change Study Abroad Status Form.
Refund Policy and Fee Schedule
If you withdraw or are dismissed from a Pitzer Semester Program:
- On or before May 1 (fall) / October 15 (spring): No fees.
- After May 1 (fall) / October 15 (spring) but before the program starts: You will owe a $500 withdrawal fee plus any nonrecoverable costs (deposits, stipends, etc.).
- Within 14 days after the program starts: 80% refund.
- Within 30 days: 50% refund.
- Within 60 days: 20% refund.
- After 60 days: No refund.
If you withdraw or are dismissed from an Exchange or Third-Party Semester Program:
- On or before May 1 (fall) / October 15 (spring): No fees.
- After May 1 (fall) / October 15 (spring): You will owe a $500 withdrawal fee plus any nonrecoverable costs incurred by Pitzer (deposits, flights, visas, fees charged by the program, etc.).
- Exchange programs: If the host university charges Pitzer tuition, room, or board—or if you have taken an exchange slot that can’t be filled—you may be responsible for those full costs.
- Any refund will subtract nonrecoverable expenses and any allowances that you have already received.
If you withdraw or are dismissed from a Pitzer Summer Program:
- On or before March 25: No fees.
- After March 25 but 31+ days before the program starts: You will owe a $500 withdrawal fee plus any nonrecoverable costs (deposits, flights, visas, etc.).
- 1–30 days before the program starts: Refund is 50% of fees paid. Summer exchange participants may owe full tuition/room/board if the host institution charges Pitzer.
- On or after the program start date: No refund.
Other Important Notes
- Withdrawing or being dismissed may cancel your financial aid, loans, scholarships, or grants, leaving you responsible for any resulting balance. Consult with the Financial Aid Office.
- If airline tickets have already been purchased, you are responsible for the full cost of those tickets.
- Pitzer students: If you withdraw and wish to return to campus, housing is not guaranteed, and you may need to move or live off campus. Contact the Residence Life Office.
