Registration Tips
View Course Schedule & Select Courses
The course schedule for the upcoming term is available in the portal under the Course Schedule tab according to the dates listed in the Academic Calendar.
- ensure you have selected the correct term from the dropdown menu to view the corresponding schedule
- use the Course Area dropdown to filter by discipline and/or courses that meet Pitzer Educational Objective requirements
- plan for alternative courses in case your first choices are not available
Review Educational Objectives Progress Report
Review your Educational Objectives Progress Report in your portal to ensure you are completing Pitzer's degree requirements on time for your graduation.
Meet with Advisor
Every student must receive advising clearance in order to register for the upcoming semester. You should meet with your advisor during Advising Days as listed on the Academic Calendar.
- Students whose advisors are on sabbatical will be assigned a temporary advisor
- Advisors and temporary advisors are listed in the Student section of the myCampus2 portal.
Clear Holds
Holds preventing registration are viewable in your portal in the "Registration" tab.
- holds are visible in the Registration section of your portal
- only the office which placed the hold can remove it (e.g. if the hold is a Student Accounts Office hold, consult with that office)
- students who do not declare a major by the first semester of their junior year will have a hold placed on their record. This hold will be removed after submission of a Major Declaration form
Add your Classes
- Click on the “Registration” tab of your MyCampus2 Portal and choose the appropriate term from the dropdown.
- Use the “Course Area” dropdown menu to filter your search for classes.
- NOTE: Searching by ‘Title’ or ‘Course Code’ can sometimes be difficult since the search terms have to be exact to work. We recommend simply browsing the list of courses in a particular area.
- Click on the course number to see details, including your eligibility to enroll, pre-requisites, and registration restrictions.
- If you are eligible, select ‘Add this Class’. If you are not eligible, review the notes to find out why. The course may be full, you may not meet the requisites/requirements, or you may need to request permission from the instructor (see next section for details on how to do so)
PERM Request/Instructor Permission
- Students who are not eligible to enroll in a course (see below screenshot for eligibility notation) may request permission to enroll using the PERM system in the MyCampus2 Portal.
- The “Request a PERMission to enroll authorization” link allows students to send an enrollment request to the course instructor.
- Your PERM requests are viewable by clicking the “PERMission to Enroll Requests” link in the left navigation bar of the “Registration” section of your portal.
- Notifications about approved and denied requests will also be sent to you via email.
- An approved PERM does not automatically register you into the course—you will need to log in to the portal and add the class.
Because we are a consortium with multiple schools sharing a schedule, you may notice that some schools offer different amounts of credit. Please be aware of the following conversions that will happen automatically when you register for these courses:
- Harvey Mudd: Courses listed as semester units, so a 3-credit Harvey Mudd course will appear on your schedule as 1 Pitzer credit. Similarly, 2 Harvey Mudd credits = .5 Pitzer Credit, and 1 Harvey Mudd credit = .25 Pitzer credit.
- Physical Education Courses: Pitzer does not give credit for .25 credit physical education credit. You may register for these courses and they will show on your transcript but the credit will not count toward graduation.
Students who are abroad during pre-registration may request assistance from the Office of the Registrar with registering if internet accessibility or time differences will impact registration. Students should ensure they have met all registration requirements (e.g. pre-reqs, instructor permission, etc.) for the courses in which they want to register before requesting request assistance from the Office of the Registrar.
Students who will be abroad for the term of pre-registration will register directly with the Office of Study Abroad.
