Principal investigators and all individuals involved in the research must complete the Ethics Training offered online through HHS.gov (Lessons 1-3). All certificates generated by the online training programs must accompany the application for IRB review. HHS certificates are accepted for up to 5 years.

  1. Complete the Required Lessons:

    Lesson 1: What is Human Subjects Research? (35 minutes, Quiz included)

    Lesson 2: The Regulations that Protect Humans in Research (90 minutes, Quiz included)

    Lesson 3: What are IRBs (45 minutes, Quiz included)

  2. Save and Upload Your Completion Certificates. At the end of each lesson, you will be given the option to download a completion certificate. Save each certificate as a PDF or take a screenshot. Email your certificates to irb@pitzer.edu 

(HHS ethics training are also required for Faculty Only: Lessons 1-3 are required). NOTE: HHS.gov does not save progress or history of certificate completion. Make sure to save certificates offered at the end of each lesson.
