Sagehen Athletics Rise High in 2026 Academic Rankings

The Pomona-Pitzer Athletics program encourages student-athletes to hit the books as much as they hit the gym. As a result, student-athletes excel in the classroom as much as they do on the court, track, field, and pool. Their impressive work ethic has earned the Sagehens a variety of academic honors for 2025–26.  

Pomona-Pitzer women’s track and field earned the second-highest team GPA in NCAA Division III, while the women’s golf team earned the fourth-highest GPA in DIII. Pomona-Pitzer men’s track and field also achieved the third-highest team GPA in DIII. 

A total of 147 Pitzer student-athletes were included in All-Academic Teams for 2025–26, as announced by the Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (SCIAC). Sagehens who earned this honor included players in baseball, basketball, cross-country, football, golf, lacrosse, soccer, softball, swim and dive, tennis, track and field, volleyball, and water polo. Student-athletes must maintain a 3.4 GPA to be eligible for SCIAC All-Academic honors. 

Individual Sagehens in baseball, basketball, cross-country, golf, track and field, lacrosse, swim and dive, and water polo also received Academic All-District honors by the national intercollegiate organization College Sports Communicators.

Women’s Category

Women’s Track and Field Earns Second-Highest GPA in DIII 
 

The U.S. Track & Field and Cross-Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) named Pomona-Pitzer women’s track and field an All-Academic Team. The Pomona-Pitzer team earned a combined 3.82 GPA, the second-highest GPA in Division III women’s track and field. 
 
Pitzer’s Eva Novy-Hildesley ’27 and Ella Bowers PO’26 were also named individual USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes.  
 
The USTFCCCA All-Academic Teams and All-Academic Athletes recognize student-athletes and programs that excelled both academically and competitively throughout the 2026 track and field season. 

Women’s Golf Scores Fourth-Highest GPA in DIII 

The Women’s Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) honored the Pomona-Pitzer women’s golf team with the WGCA All-Scholar Team GPA Award. At 3.809, the team earned the fourth-highest GPA in Division III.  

Women’s Lacrosse Named IWLCA Academic Honor Squad 

Pomona-Pitzer women’s lacrosse was named a 2026 Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) Academic Honor Squad. 
 
Along with nine Pomona students, Pitzer’s Taylor Glanville ’26, Audrey Jacklyn ’27, Ruby Loesch ’26, and Gwynn Sullivan ’26 earned individual Academic Honor Roll accolades. To be eligible for this honor, student-athletes must be a junior, senior, or graduate student and have earned a cumulative academic GPA of 3.5 or greater. 

Women’s Tennis Selected as ITA All-Academic Team 

Pomona-Pitzer women’s tennis was named a Division III Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team GPA of 3.2 or above (on a 4.0 scale), have all student-athletes listed on the institutional eligibility form, and have all varsity letter winners factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year. 

Along with seven Pomona students, Pitzer’s Tessa Ellingson ’29 and Rachel Roxarzade ’25 earned individual ITA Scholar-Athlete honors. To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must have a GPA of at least 3.5 (on a 4.0 scale) for the current academic year and be listed on the institutional eligibility form.  

 Women’s Volleyball Receives AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll 

For the 11th-straight season, the Pomona-Pitzer women’s volleyball team earned the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) Team Academic Honor Roll. This award recognizes collegiate and high school volleyball teams that maintained a year-long GPA of at least 3.3 on a 4.0 scale (or 4.1 on a 5.0 scale).

Men’s Track and Field Earns Third-Highest GPA in DIII 

Pomona-Pitzer men’s track and field was named a USTFCCCA All-Academic Team. As a team, Pomona-Pitzer earned a combined 3.73 GPA, good for the third-highest GPA in all of Division III men’s track and field.  

Pitzer’s JT Bard ’26, Ezra Satran ’29, and Matthew Yen ’29 along with seven Pomona students were named individual USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes. 

Men’s Baseball Receives ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award 

Pomona-Pitzer baseball received the American Baseball Coaches’ Association (ABCA) Team Academic Excellence Award. This award honors high school and college programs coached by ABCA members that post a cumulative GPA over 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. 

Men’s Basketball Scores NABC Team Academic Excellence Award 

Pomona-Pitzer men’s basketball earned the 2025–26 National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) Team Academic Excellence Award. The NABC Team Academic Excellence Award recognizes programs that completed the 2025–26 academic year with a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. 

Pitzer’s Abhi Namala ’27, Cooper Bladow ’27, and Kyle Jasper ’26, along with Connor Fitzgerald PO’27 and Charlie Treene PO’26, earned NABC Honors Court recognition. This honor is eligible to juniors and seniors who finished the 2025–26 year with a cumulative GPA of 3.2 or higher.  

Men’s Golf Achieves PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award 

Pomona-Pitzer men’s golf earned the 2025–26 PLATFORM Golf Team Academic Award from the Golf Coaches Association of America. The Sagehens received Presidents Special Recognition, which honors teams with an average team GPA of 3.5 or above in 2025–26.  

Men’s Tennis Receives ITA All-Academic Team Award 

Pomona-Pitzer men’s tennis earned the ITA All-Academic Team Award. To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must have a team GPA of 3.2 or above (on a 4.0 scale). 

Pitzer’s Luke Feng ’26, Kiran Vairavanathan ’28, and John Wehrle ’26 were named ITA Scholar-Athletes along with seven Pomona students.
