Juanita Aristizábal
Associate Dean for Global and Local Initiatives and Programing
Director of the Institute for Global and Local Action and Study (IGLAS)
Juanita Aristizábal is Associate Dean for Global and Local Initiatives and Programing, director of the Institute for Global and Local Action and Study (IGLAS), and Professor of Spanish and Portuguese at the Modern Languages, Literatures, and Cultures field group.
She was born and raised in Bogotá, Colombia and is a scholar of Colombian literature and culture. She has been a professor at Pitzer since 2014 and has taught Spanish and Portuguese language courses as well as seminars on Brazil and Colombia and environmental issues, digital media, and urban culture in Latin America.
As IGLAS director and Associate Dean, she works to integrate Pitzer’s renowned study abroad and community engagement programs to help students address Pitzer’s four core educational requirements: local and global intercultural understanding, and social justice theory and practice.

Noosha G. Malek
Director, Office of Fellowships
Noosha Malek received her BA in International Studies at California State University, Long Beach. She also completed an academic year abroad in Paris, France, which became the catalyst for her pursuit of a career promoting cultural understanding. She received her doctorate in educational leadership at the University of Southern California. At USC, her research explored the paradox of internationalization at community colleges.
Dr. Malek started her professional career at USC, where she first worked in international admissions and student affairs. She transitioned to academic affairs for what would become a ten-year career managing competitive fellowship and scholarship programs. She also led the university to receive continuous distinction as a “Top Fulbright-Producing Institution” and expanded its scholarship and student engagement efforts.
Dr. Malek has presented and published on cultural identity and received university recognition for her leadership in international education. An avid traveler with a love for adventure, she enjoys spending her free time with her family taking in new experiences near and far.
