Robert Redford's Legacy at Pitzer College

September 16, 2025 — Oscar-winning actor and director Robert Redford created a legacy of environmentalism that includes his involvement with Pitzer’s Robert Redford Conservancy for Southern California Sustainability and related efforts. At Pitzer, Redford found a community aligned with his commitment to addressing the challenges facing our planet. He played an important role in supporting a number of the College’s sustainability goals and initiatives.

Robert Redford Conservancy for Southern California Sustainability
Founded in 2012, Pitzer's Robert Redford Conservancy is dedicated to expanding environmental education and promoting environmental justice. Benefactors Susan and Nicholas Pritzker, friends of Robert Redford, made a $10 million philanthropic gift to help establish it and named it in the actor's honor.
