Pitzer College Media Statement on College Council’s Call for Israel Academic Boycott

April 11, 2024 — On April 11, 2024, Pitzer College President Strom C. Thacker rejected a Pitzer College Council recommendation calling for an academic boycott of all Israeli academic institutions. President Thacker views the recommendation as antithetical to Pitzer’s commitment to academic freedom, to the creation of a safe and productive learning environment for all, and to the College’s core value of intercultural understanding.
