Today's events
President Thacker sends a message to the Pitzer community regarding today's campus events.

March 13, 2025
Dear Pitzer Community,
I hope this message finds everyone safe and sound after the unsettling experience we all endured during this evening’s shelter-in-place episode. While we are all relieved that it ended without incident, it was a frightening and exhausting ordeal for many, and I am proud and grateful for the way our community came together in a spirit of mutual support. This is a remarkable place, uplifted and sustained by kind and generous students, faculty and staff. Thank you all.
It is common and normal to feel anxious, disoriented, or overwhelmed by events like this. Please know there are resources available for support, and remember that none of us has to be alone in this. There are a variety of offices, programs, people and other resources available that are ready, willing, and able to support members of our community. If you are a student, please reach out to Student Affairs or the resources listed below, and if you are a faculty or staff member, please contact Human Resources or the mental health resources available through EAP.
The College will continue to provide resources and updates to ensure that everyone has the support they need. Please take time to care for yourselves, check in on your friends, colleagues and peers, and reach out to the available resources and support networks. I wish you all a peaceful and replenishing spring break.
Please also join me in expressing our deepest gratitude to our emergency management team and to all the staff who worked to keep us safe (and fed, with the extra dining hall hours!). These were the people making sure everyone in our treasured community was as safe and protected from harm as possible.
Provida Futuri,
Strom C. Thacker
President
