“Living at Pitzer was one of the best experiences of my life! It was much more than teaching Portuguese. I made beautiful friends, I met people I will never forget, I became a better teacher, a better student, a better person! I saw incredible places, I made big dreams come true…I really miss everything I experienced in my “California Dream.”

“The coolest things about living and teaching in Pitzer was relearning our language/culture through the eyes of the students and through the contrast with other cultures.”

Vitor Lacerda Siqueira is from Minas Gerais in Brazil. As an international student at Pitzer, he majored in linguistics and received a minor in Spanish. In addition to his work as a Portuguese Fletcher Jones Language Fellow, he co-founded and presided over the Brazil Club at the Claremont Colleges. In the fall, he will begin his PhD in Linguistics at NYU, focusing on the phonology of Amazonian languages.

"As a linguistics major, I loved when students asked me challenging questions about language that I had never considered. It was also wonderful to see how much they progressed in a short period of time."
