Welcome to your family's guide for Pitzer's Family Orientation & Move-in Day 2025! You'll find everything you need to prepare for this exciting milestone, including event schedules, what to bring, and helpful resources.

We are excited to welcome new families to Pitzer College! Family Orientation and Move-in Day is your opportunity to help your student settle in, connect with other families, and learn how Pitzer will support them during their college journey.

The event takes place on Saturday, August 16, 2025, and includes: 

  • Move-in support
  • Information sessions
  • Affinity gatherings
  • Helpful resources to ease your student's transition.

Schedule

Saturday, August 16, 2025 

*Please note that all events and times are subject to change. A final schedule will be shared at check-in.

8 a.m.–Noon 
Student Registration Move-in Time Slots 
East Mesa Parking Lot 
Upon arrival, families will assist students with moving into their rooms, guided by scheduled slots based on their students' last name:

  • 8–8:45 a.m.: A–F and new Pomona Pitzer Athletes
  • 8:45–9:30 a.m.: G–L
  • 9:30–10:15 a.m.: M–R
  • 10:15–11 a.m.: S–Z

8 a.m.–Noon 
Family Registration + Letter to Your Student Activity 
Gold Student Center, Multipurpose Room 
After moving in, families will visit the registration area to check in, pick up materials for the day, and participate in the Letter to Your Student activity.

8 a.m.–5 p.m. 
Family and Friends Lounge + Pitzer Store + Letter to Your Student Activity 
McConnell Center, Living Room
Take a break from the hustle in a comfortable space to relax, browse Pitzer gear, and craft a keepsake letter for your student.

10:30–11:15 a.m. 
Athletics Information Session   
Center for Athletics, Recreation, and Wellness (CARW), Voelkel Gymnasium 
Transportation will be provided by Pomona College Sagecoach
Pick-up Location: Avery Gates on Mills Avenue @ 10 a.m. & 10:15 a.m.
Hear directly from Athletics staff about programs, expectations, and resources designed to support winter and spring student-athletes.

11 a.m.–1:30 p.m. 
Connections Café
The Mounds
Drop by for casual conversation and light refreshments while meeting fellow families and members of the Pitzer community.

10:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m. 
New Student Gift from Alumni Association 
George C.S. Benson Auditorium, Stein Atrium
Celebrate the start of your student’s journey with a welcome gift from the Alumni Association—symbolizing the lifelong Pitzer connection.

Noon–1:30 p.m. 
Family Welcome Lunch 
McConnell Center, Dining Hall 
Overflow seating in the Founders Room
Enjoy a shared meal with other families and staff while taking in the excitement of the day.

1:45–3 p.m. 
Insights to Life at Pitzer 
George C.S. Benson Auditorium  
(Overflow seating in Fletcher and Broad Halls) 
Gain an inside look at the Pitzer experience through brief presentations on academics, wellness, study abroad, career planning, and more—followed by time for questions.

1:45–3 p.m. 
Spanish-Speaking Session / Información acerca de la vida en Pitzer 
Broad Hall 209, Language Lab

3:15–4:15 p.m. 
FirstGen Reception 
Grove House, Outdoor Classroom
Celebrate first-generation college journeys while connecting with other families and learning about the support network available to your student.

3:15–4:45 p.m. 
Resource Fair 
Gold Student Center and Terrace
Explore campus services, programs, and opportunities designed to help students thrive—straight from the people who make them happen.

4:45–5:50 p.m. 
Community Dinner 
Commencement Plaza
Share a festive meal with students, families, faculty, and staff as the day transitions toward the start of Orientation.

5:50–6:15 p.m. 
Family Farewell 
The Mounds
Take a few moments for farewells—share the letter you wrote earlier in the day and offer words of encouragement as your student begins their Pitzer journey.

6:30–8 p.m. 
Cheers & Tears Reception 
President’s Residence
Maps from campus will be provided.
Close out the day with fellow families in a relaxed, supportive setting—whether you’re toasting new beginnings, dabbing away happy tears, or a bit of both.

Additional Pre-Orientation Events for Student-Athlete Families

Some families will be arriving on campus earlier in the week for sport-specific welcome events. If your student is a Pomona-Pitzer student-athlete in one of the sports listed below, we invite you to join us for a special reception to meet other families, connect with coaches, and kick off the season together. Light refreshments will be provided.

Football Family Reception
Tuesday, August 12 | 4–5:30 p.m.
Celebrate the start of the season with fellow football families and coaching staff, and build connections that will last all year.

Cross Country, Soccer, Volleyball, and Water Polo Family Reception
Thursday, August 14 | 4–5:30 p.m.
Mingle with other multi-sport families and hear from coaches who are excited to support your student both on and off the field.
