Stories We Carry, Stories We Create | Hosted by Pitzer College

Join Pitzer alum Carly Tolbert, LCSW, for an interactive conversation exploring the experiences that shape who we are and the paths we take.

-

Broad Performance Space, Broad Center
Registration Required

Carly will share pieces of her own personal and professional journey, including the people, places, and experiences that have shaped her life and work. Students will then be invited to reflect on their own stories through a guided “Where I’m From” poetry activity, exploring some of the influences that have shaped who they are and who they are becoming.

Together, we’ll consider how both the beauty and challenges of our experiences can inform the lives and careers we create, and how our passions and paths can continue to emerge and change over time. There will be opportunities for reflection, conversation, and optional sharing.

The Story Exchange is a weeklong, 7C-wide series of programs and activities that creates opportunities to share stories, listen to the experiences of others, and discover the connections that bring our community together.

Across The Claremont Colleges, students will be invited to participate as storytellers, listeners, creators, readers, and curious members of the community. Through conversations, music, art, reflection, and other forms of storytelling, The Story Exchange encourages us to look beyond first impressions, learn from different perspectives, and recognize both what we share and what makes each person’s experience distinct.

Pitzer alum Carly Tolbert, LCSW, will share parts of her personal and professional journey, followed by a guided “Where I’m From” poetry activity inviting students to reflect on the people, places, and experiences that have shaped who they are and who they are becoming. Together, participants will explore how life experiences shape the paths we create, with opportunities to reflect and share. RSVP required.
