Student Honor Cords, Medals & Stole Information
Honor cords are orange and recognize academic excellence in a field of major.
Stoles worn by graduating students reflect the diverse accomplishments, identities, and contributions of our community. Rooted in Pitzer College’s core values—social responsibility, intercultural understanding, interdisciplinary learning, student engagement, environmental sustainability, and academic excellence—these symbols celebrate the unique journeys and achievements of each student.
Stole Colors/Meanings:
- Black Student Union (BSU) — black, green, red, and yellow cords
- Center for Asian Pacific American Students (CAPAS)—blue with orange embroidery
- Chicano Latino Student Affairs (CLSA)—made out of sarape material, multicolored
- Chronically Ill and Disabled Student Alliance (CIDSA) - black cord with bronze spoons
- EcoReps—Green with white Pitzer logo and white EcoReps logo
- FirstGen Program—dark gray with orange and white embroidery
- Green Bike Program (GBP) - pending design/colors (pending confirmation)
- Inside Out- orange and white stoles with embroidery
- International Scholars—royal blue with orange embroidery
- Law Society of Pitzer College—navy blue with white trim and white justice scales
- Middle Eastern Student Association (MESA)—burgundy with logos in white, green, and
black and student names embroidered in gold - Mixed Identity Exchange (MIX)—purple with silver lettering
- New Resources Student (NRS) Program—blue with orange trim and white lettering
- Office of Black Student Affairs (OBSA)—red, green, black, and yellow Kente cloth
embroidered with various symbols - Pasifika Asian Student Union (PASU) — dark blue stoles with red trim and white lettering, blue and red cords with logo as a charm
- Pitzer College and Western University of Health Sciences Joint Medical Program—orange, white, and green stoles embroidered with Western U logo and Pitzer logo
- Pitzer International Student Association (PISA) — dark green with orange logo, flag patches, and white embroidery
- Queer Resource Center (QRC) - lavender stole, lavender, and white cord
- Southwest Asian North African Alliance (SWANAA)—burgundy with logos in white, green, and black, and student names embroidered in gold
- Womxn of Color Collective (WCC)—purple and white cords
Psi Chi International Honor Society in Psychology medals are navy blue, light blue, and white, and they hang on navy blue ribbons.

Inside-Out Pathway-to-BA Commencement
Pitzer's Inside-Out Pathway-to-BA 5th cohort commencement ceremony took place on Tuesday, May 19th at the California Rehabilitation Center.

Angela Y. Davis, a celebrated political activist, professor, and author deeply involved in social justice movements around the world, will deliver keynote remarks to the class of 2026 during this year’s commencement ceremony in May.
