Inaugural Year Committee Mission, 2023–24
Consistent with Pitzer’s tradition of inclusiveness and shared governance, the Inaugural Year Committee focused on the following:
A. Develop a calendar of meetings and events to help President Strom C. Thacker forge important relationships, both internally and externally, early in his term, including:
- The President’s formal inauguration
- A schedule of associated campus welcome receptions
- A priorities list for additional engagement opportunities
B. Provide the president with information regarding Pitzer’s mission, issues, and priorities within each College constituency – faculty, staff, students, alumni, families, trustees, and the local community – and enable each constituent group to share input in these areas through their committee representative.
C. Support the positioning of Strom C. Thacker as a thought leader in higher education to broadly elevate the trailblazing work of Pitzer College and advance its core values as a social justice and inclusive liberal arts institution, including:
- Social Responsibility
- Intercultural Understanding
- Interdisciplinary Learning
- Student Engagement
- Environmental Sustainability
