500 + Students Supported

per academic year across the 5Cs

The Community Engagement Center offers support for students completing their Social Responsibility Praxis (SRX) requirement and those participating in community engagement during their time at Pitzer. Below you will find pertinent information regarding ongoing funding opportunities and additional resources.

Social Responsibility Praxis (SRX) Support

Any Claremont College students currently enrolled in at Pitzer College Social Responsibility Praxis (SRX) course can access information about this training and the necessary documents needed to complete their SRX requirement onboarding through our CEC-SRX Resource Hub. Learn more about the CEC -SRX Resource Hub

Students taking a Social Responsibility Praxis (SRX) course are required to take this training once an academic year unless otherwise determined by their faculty.

This training is offered at the beginning of each semester. For students unable to attend this in person training, we provide an asynchronous version available.

Clearance is required usually for students working any protected populations such as: minors, elderly, people with disabilities, people who are incarcerated. If you are not working with these populations, your students will not need clearance.

Students participating in SRX course internships or other community engagement partnerships may be required to travel for their work. The CEC provides students doing community engagement transportation per their Pitzer SRX course up to $200 per semester.

We offer reimbursement  for students engaged in community-based work during the Fall and Spring semesters. This includes all students participating in community engagement as part of a course, as well as Pitzer students involved in co-curricular or independent community engagement activities outside of the classroom. Our goal is to reduce financial barriers and ensure that all students can fully participate in meaningful, community-centered experiences.

As a reminder, all reimbursements can take up to a minimum of two weeks to processed. If you have not received an email indicating your reimbursement has been received and submitted within those two weeks, please reach out to CEC Office Manager, Jack Contreras
