Pitzer College is launching a new initiative aimed at enhancing access and affordability for low- and middle-income students and their families.

Prospective students applying for fall 2025 may be eligible for the Pitzer Opportunity Grant (POG). This new grant covers 100% of tuition costs for Pitzer students whose households meet certain income and asset requirements. The POG underscores Pitzer’s commitment to demonstrating that higher education can be both affordable and accessible.

Under the POG program, California students with an annual household income and family assets of $120,000 or less or who qualify for a Cal Grant will be eligible. Out-of-state students whose annual household income and family assets are $120,000 or less will also be eligible.

According to Yvonne Berumen ‘97, vice president of admission and financial aid, this initiative "reinforces our ongoing commitment to ensuring that financial barriers do not hinder academic opportunity. It is part of our broader effort to make a Pitzer education accessible to all. We hope this grant will encourage prospective students and their families, who may be concerned about cost, to realize that a Pitzer education is within their reach, thanks to our pledge to meet 100% of demonstrated financial need for eligible students.”

This coverage may apply to all four years of a student’s undergraduate career as long as they maintain consecutive enrollment and meet Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) while at Pitzer.

The POG does not cover the costs of housing and food, but many students who qualify for the grant may also receive substantial help with their housing and food expenses at Pitzer through additional grant aid.

Prospective students seeking financial aid are encouraged to explore the Myin Tuition tool and the Net Price Calculator on the Pitzer website. These resources offer valuable estimates of need-based aid eligibility and potential financial aid packages to help students understand their financial future at Pitzer before they apply.
